Akhirnya kernel GNU/Linux terbaru (2.6.15) sudah mendukung driver TV/FM Tunner Pixelview Play TV Pro Ultra yang mempunyai chip Conexant 2388x. TV/FM tunner saya yang sudah lama menganggur. Ga pernah dipakai di kos, akhirnya saya install di komputer kantor. Lumayanlah bisa denger radio/nonton tv sambil coding. Banyak juga temen yang iri ngeliat tunner saya hihi. Kayak gini ini nih barangnya :

Saya menggunakan kernel terbaru 2.6.15 bawaan Debian. Nama package-nya linux-image-2.6.15-1-686. Modul untuk tunner ini ada 3 buah yaitu cx8800, cx88xx, dan tunner. Untuk modul cx8800 mempunyai 2 options yaitu video_nr=0 dan radio_nr=0. Untuk modul cx8800 mempunyai 2 options juga yaitu card=3 dan tuner=5. Options card=3 menjelaskan tipe card nya adalah Pixelview. Options tuner=5 menjelaskan tipe tunner nya yaitu Philips PAL_BG (FI1216 and compatibles).

Yang perlu dilakukan adalah membuat file baru, namanya terserah, misalnya tv-radio. Letakkan file ini di direktori /etc/modprobe.d. Berikut ini isi file tsb :

install cx88xx modprobe –ignore-install cx88xx card=3 tuner=5
install cx8800 modprobe –ignore-install cx8800 video_nr=0 radio_nr=0
install tuner modprobe –ignore-install tuner

Setelah itu segera load modulnya dengan command :

modprobe cx8800

Otomatis ketiga modul di atas akan di-load oleh kernel. Cek log sistem dengan command :

dmesg

atau

tail -f /var/log/messages

Setelah itu install aplikasinya. Untuk radio player kita bisa gunakan gnomeradio. Sedangkan untuk TV player yang bagus adalah tvtime.
